Today, data warehouses are an important component of modern company-wide information systems and form the basis for decision-support systems. The special requirements of data warehouses - the volume of data to be stored, the multidimensional structure of the data and the desire for short response times - require special support by database technologies. These techniques are the subject of this lecture.
